Concept map: a link between pandemic and climate change

My learning partner and I built a concept map to demonstrate the link between pandemic and climate change. The root causes of climate change also increase the risk of pandemics.

As much of the population increase has been in poorer countries, the demand for land for cultivation and pasture. Agricultural intensification has resulted in more food being produced now than is required to feed the entire planet. In addition to infrastructure development, it has exerted considerable effect on deforestation. We are generating an unintended change in the amount of green house emissions, which can have a tremendous impact on the rest of the globe, by cutting down large sections of forest without replanting the trees that we destroy. Economic activity and rapid urbanization, whether by rural farmers, business organizations, or city customers, encourages deforestation in numerous ways. Its effects on greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution are results of economic activity and rapid urbanization.

Forests are essential for human and animal survival because they house millions of species. But as the world warms, creatures large and little, on land and at sea, are flocking to the poles to escape the heat. This means animals are coming into contact with creatures they wouldn't ordinarily come into contact with, allowing viruses to infect new hosts. Because of the loss of habitat, animals are forced to migrate, where they may come into touch with other animals or people and spread viruses. On the other hand, a combination of population increase, growing affluence, and urbanization is driving the surge in demand for livestock products. Large livestock farms can potentially be a source of infection transmission from animals to humans. Reduced demand for animal meat and more environmentally friendly animal husbandry could reduce the danger of developing infectious diseases and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Such factors have had the potential to boost the transmission of contagious diseases which might evolve to an outbreak or pandemic.

This is another concept mab/web that my learning partner and I created. In here, we utilized visual cues to demonstrate the link between pandemics and climate change.
